A Trip to the Museum: PIttsburgh

The Andy Warhol Museum

Unfortunately their photograph museum, like almost all museums, prohibit photography. There were a few places that visitors are allowed to use photographic devices but there wasn't much to view. Here are a few snaps of my visit Friday evening.

The Andy Warhol Museum is seven floors, and one of the largest museums in the world dedicated to a single artist. One starts at the top of the exhibit, on floor seven, and as you ascend, the life of Andy Warhola, a Pittsburgh native, is laid out in paintings and sketches, sculptures, film, photography and narrative. I wish I could have brought this extraordinary collection to you through the lens of my camera. I know it's a tease and not much but I share with you what I can.

Four Seasons July Block

The Four Seasons machine embroidered quilt block collection was designed by my great friend and mentor Marinda Stewart. Sue of The Needlework Factory interpreted a quilt that was designed by Marinda out of my Rock Candy collection for Blank Quilting. I have a meeting tomorrow and I did the July block using my new fabric for Blank Quilting called CRYSTALLINE. Here are a few pictures of the block being sewn out. I used Crystalline in color 98 (black) for the background, color 39 (cocoa) for the sunflower center and a scrap of yellow minky (poly plush) for the flower itself.

Watermelon Gazpacho

Cool soup for a hot summer day - Watermelon Gazpacho - heirloom tomato, watermelon, red onion, local cucumber, backyard dill, red wine vinegar, S&P TT and goat feta. WOW!

It's Been a While

Sometimes life just gets away from you. Nothing bad but not necessarily all good - just regular day to day life. When your days are filled with things to do, people to see, places to go, time to chill... it's all good and it's mind boggling that it's been almost 3 months since my last post.

I'll pick up from here - Saturday, July 25th - and hopefully blog forward while revisiting in the time that has passed by.

I'm in Pittsburgh, sitting in a large, spacious room in a very lovely house built in the early 1900's - lofty ceilings, ornate woodwork, open and airy - at "my" desk preparing for a trip to SC on Tuesday and scrolling through photos from the past few days.
